Vision software is the general denominator for different types of software. It refers to these tools that turn your raw captured images into a useful and valuable image product.

Image processing is a digital photogrammetric step. It turns raw images into an orthophoto mosaic and, in a next step, into a very precise DTM. It is a highly automated process that includes lens calibration and geo-registration of the images, 3D-points generation, classification and conversion to a DTM format. It uses advanced image correlation and processing methods. The data quality can be enhanced by integrating a few terrestrial measurements for anchoring the DTM to the reference system of choice.

To further enhance your image products, an image post-processing or image analysis might be in place. A raw DTM is skinned down and enriched into a map for mining engineers, an orthophoto mosaic is imported in a GIS as a supporting visual layer.
In the case of vegetation monitoring, this means combining the spectra of the visual and near-infrared image sets in specific ways, in order to detect vegetation aspects. These are the basis for proper analysis and management software.
